What is NaNoWriMo 2017

You might be wondering what NaNoWriMo is all about.  It stands for National Novel Writing Month, and every November thousands of people write like crazy in an amazing and supportive community environment.  The goal is to write at least 50,000 during this month and complete the first draft of a novel.  People approach this in many different ways.  Some people plan and prep for weeks in advance.  I'm one of those people who plans to just wing it.

Two years ago I participated for the first time.  It was such a fascinating journey for myself and my plot and characters.  I will always remember the day that I unexpectedly killed off an important character.  As I typed I couldn't believe what was spilling out.  To me that is the power and pleasure of the experience.

And so, starting tomorrow, I will try to write about 1500 - 2000 words every day for a month.  I already know that it is doable.  I also know that sometimes 1500 words is close to mission impossible.

I will share word totals from time to time.  All I have so far is a single idea, and the plan to write one chapter a day for the month.  This will also be a book geared toward children.

Looking For A Fun Holiday Event--Host A Creativity Party

Art of the Ancient World

My next children't art class begins Monday, October 23, 2017, 6 -7 p.m.  This six week sessions focuses on art of the ancient world.  We will spend a couple weeks in ancient Egypt.  Then we will move on to ancient China.  Then onto Europe for cave paintings, and we will finish with illuminated lettering of the Middle Ages.

The session continues through November 27.  This program is geared for people in grades 2 - 6.  The cost is $90 for the complete 6 session program.  Payment can be made at the first session.  I have room for several more students, so please let everyone who might be interested in this program.

Inspiration Rising Closing Night and Painting Party

Can you believe it's time for all that inspiration to come down off the gallery walls?  If you haven't gotten to see the show I hope you will stop in on Friday evening!  It will be a low key sort of event that I hope will be filled with encouraging conversations and even some creative inspiration!

The gallery is officially open from 5 - 8 p.m. this Friday, but I hope to be there from 4 p.m. on!  The address is 571 W. Tuscarawas Ave., Barberton  44203

You have a couple options:

1.  Come out and enjoy looking at the show, light snacks, and conversation.

or

2.  Come out and create your own inspirational painting.  The painting will begin around 6:30.  I will provide all the supplies.  You can bring a favorite quote to add in the same way I did or just paint.  You can always bring your own ideas.  If you need an idea, I can guide you through creating your own Autumn Sunset in the Meadow, similar to the one below.

This painting would make a great gift!  I have many sizes of canvases, so you can choose the size you want-- 8x10, 11x14, 12x12, or 16x20  Your investment in this offering is $25.
