This summer I have had great fun making a variety of very playful gardens!  This was the first of that set.  I'm looking forward to taking these techniques into the fall.

I painted this at the end of a rain storm.  I did spray the water to get some color flow, but then I leaned it against a tree and giant drops of water fell.  Big spots were left in the color.  I like it!  I hope you do, too!

The story behind the painting:

So I thought I had finished this one a couple weeks ago, but then I saw it when I was painting on Thursday.  It screamed to have a bit more added.  I listened.  It was only minor changes--a bit fuller bloom and blue in the stem.  What a difference those few strokes made!  It feels proud and regal now.

The story behind the painting:

Sam and I stopped in for a quick visit at Lakeside's Heritage Hall Museum.  It turned out to be much longer because he did a scavenger hunt.  I was a bit frustrated, but when I walked out I saw these amazing flowers to the side.  The inspiration for this pieces was born!
