Join Me At Barberton Summer Mart

I'm going to be in my studio all day on Saturday as part of the Barberton Summer Mart!  Please stop down and visit between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.!  In addition to visit all sorts of other downtown goodness, live music and more, here is what you can expect from me:

A variety of new summer acrylic paintings in a variety of sizes and a wide price range (these are just a few!). . .

A nice assortment of small sweet summer watercolors (again, just a small sampling!). . .

And, of course, a bit of magic and whimsy. . .

Additionally I have loads of handmade and photo greeting cards, art prints, and some lovely other pieces of art and inspiration.

I can't wait to see you on Saturday!!

Life Lessons of Summer by the Lake

I am learning so much these days--about myself, about my child, about the people in our lives!  The learning makes me a better artist, parent, and human being.  We are spending our summer on the shores of Lake Erie.  I'm working retail.  Sam is learning to be a bit free range.  We are living with other people.  I'm also painting, beach combing, and seeking direction for the fall and winter season.  Last week felt like a steep learning curve.  We went home for Father's Day, and it felt a bit smoother.  I wanted to share some of what I'm learning, and I invite you to let me know what resonates with you.

Here is some of what has been coming my way in the past week:

1.  Ask for help when you need it.  I don't even have words for how hard this is for me.  I don't want to look stupid, incompetent or weak, but life is challenging and sometimes we all need help.
2.  When you ask for help people may exceed your expectations.  Nothing in my life experience prepares me f…

Where Have I Been? Where Am I Going?

It's been unusually quiet around here.
You might be wondering where have I been.

This Spring I worked for several months with adults with developmental disabilities.  They were doing creative work and learning some workplace skills.  It was rewarding.  I also had a kids' art class, a few art fundraisers and painting parties, yoga classes, and various other students.  But the trade off was that I had very little time and energy for my own creating.

I've had so many ideas brewing, but no time to manifest them.

Fast forward to summer, and a new direction.

Sam and I will be spending the summer in Lakeside, Ohio.  I will be working at the scrumptious shop, Miss Mercedes.  Sam will be more of a free range kid.  We both have projects to keep us creating and learning!

I have a few events brewing for summer, too.

July 14  Barberton Summer Art Mart, 10 a.m. on W. Tuscarawas Ave., Barberton, OH

July 20 - 22 Lakeside Plein Air Festival, Lakeside, OH

July 28 Wizardly World of Kent, K…

Come on down to 4th Friday!

I have been going through loads of change in the past 6 weeks.  At times it's overwhelming.  I wish I was creating more art than I am.  I'm bursting with ideas but low on time to actualize the creativity!.

Tomorrow, March 23, is 4th Friday.  I will be in my studio.  It's not sleek or well appointed, but I might be working on a painting.

Most of all I would LOVE to see YOU!  Stop in for a visit, and let me know what you've been up to.  There's loads of other stuff to do in Barberton, too.  I'll be in from 5-9 p.m.  See you soon.

Proudly Presenting The Letter Writing Revival

Letter Writing Revival
Welcome to the Letter Writing Revival!

Have you ever wanted to strike one match and light up the world?

I have!  I do--right here, right now!

Let's fill the world with light and love and kindness by writing letters and sending beautiful handmade cards.

With full disclosure. . . I suck at sending cards and letters.  I intend to send out thank you cards, birthday cards, Christmas cards, and so many other cards.  But I don't.  Life happens.  It slips my mind.  And in this age of electronics I've only gotten worse.

I have a friend, Lin, who writes amazing letters and cards.  Every single time I receive one I feel like the most important person in the world.

I want to share that feeling with others.  And I want to empower others to share the love and kindness all the way around the world.

Here is how it works:

1.  I make all sorts of standard size greeting cards. Some are photos of beautiful places.  Some are photos of art I created.  Some have small bits of art …
