Nine Muses Anniversary Show

I have several pieces in the Nine Muses One Year Anniversary Show!  {Happy birthday to you}  It's such a great part of Barberton!  If you haven't visited this would be a lovely time to check out some diverse local art.  The show runs until August 21st.

Here are my pieces in the show:

And I have a string of handmade paper prayer flags that I have not yet photographed that  is titled "Change is in the Air"  It's very zen and $25.

Book Making

Totally enjoyed making books today at ACoT

Passionate About Papermaking

So I can remember exactly when I started making paper.  I was a nanny in Plantation, Florida, and I went into an environmentally friendly store that was way ahead of its time in 1994.  They had papermaking kits that I wish I could find now.  I bought it and tore up so many different kinds of paper and tried so many different techniques until I found something I really liked.

I connected with two other women who made cards, and together we started a little company called Kindred Spirits.  We sold at craft shows and bridal shows and to a few friends.

I never lost the interest.  I have since made paper with hundreds of kids or more.  I'm not even sure why I thought it would be fun to share this at ACoT, but I have shared it many Sunday afternoons with little groups of people.

Now you have the chance to join me in a couple not stop hours of papermaking.  I think people will be able to make a wide variety of paper.  My hope is to share my passion and ignite enthusiasm in others.  I&#…

Plein Air Festival Recap

I was recovering from bronchitis, {and I probably overdid it} but I'm delighted with the amount of work I was able to do.  Most of these acrylics are available at Miss Mercedes in Lakeside, Ohio. The watercolors will be available at BAM! Barberton Art Mart on August 8, in my studio.

I was so delighted to see artists I've met in years past, past customers, and a variety of amazing people.  Thanks to the generosity of so many!

This is such an inspiring place for me!  I have truly painted my heart out.  So now I'm out of painting energy for the week.  I will be taking lots of photos and work on making books for the upcoming Book Art Workshop at ACoT.  I hope your creative energy is flowing~

Life Unfolding

I'm calling it finished.   This 24 x 24 inch piece is titled "Life Unfolding."   It can be viewed/purchased at Nine Muses Gallery beginning July 24.  $190

Lakeside Plein Air Festival

I have grown to love painting outside or, as the French would say, en plein air.  It's funny to think that a couple years ago I didn't know if I could do it.  I certainly don't see any other artists adopting my techniques, and I'm okay with that.

This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I will be painting in one of my absolute favorite places--Lakeside, Ohio.  This year I am adopting a go smaller approach.  I will be focusing on small scenes with my 4 x 4 and 4 x 12 canvases.  I hope to also paint a couple 16 x 20 pieces.  I can't wait to get there and see what will inspire me this year.

July 7: Today in the studio

Everyday I'm moving forward just a little bit.  Today I displayed some cards on a door in my studio.

Every bit of forward momentum counts!

What have I been doing

I've been working lots on art.  Here is some of what I've been doing:

Setting up my studio at ACoT
Making more of those cute little cubes

Adding art to the walls of my studio

Taking a drawing class
Working on a variety of new whimsical and intuitive pieces--not to be revealed here!
Watercoloring a new piece for each day's Summer of Inspiration email.  {You can still sign up for the free inspiration HERE!}

And a lovely variety of collages and collage cards

All that to say I'm baaack!  And I'm busy as all get out.  I'd love to have you join me on this creative heart centered journey.
