ACoT featured in Akron Beacon Journal

I want to give a shout out to Paula who wrote a great article with cool photos for the Akron Beacon Journal.  Here is the expanded online version.

The photo above is part of the article.  It's lovely to be part of something organic, creative, messy, and beautiful.  The best time to visit is the 4th Friday of each month, 5 - 8 p.m.  See what all the fuss is about!

Join the Vortex of Bliss this Friday

This is one part of my newest 2 x 3 foot acrylic on canvas painting, Vortex of Bliss

It's time for another 4th Friday, and I'm using my own new painting as the theme for the studio.  So we are going with Vortex of Bliss.  I'm thinking peace and contentment will surround us in Studio 102 this Friday from 5 - 8 p.m.  I'll have a few new pieces, notecards, books, card decks, and other goodies waiting for your enjoyment.

4th Friday is always a kid friendly event, but this month downtown Barberton will have lots of activities especially for kids.

At ACoT we will have sidewalk chalk, kids' crafts presented by the Barberton Library, a self station, a community art project that invites everyone to create a bit, and of course resident artist will have open studios for your enjoyment.

I'm looking forward to having you visit the Vortex of Bliss.

Vortex of Bliss

I finished this painting today.  The background sat in my dining room for about a month just waiting for the top layers.  I decided to name it Vortex of Bliss.  I love the idea of all kinds of stuff being sucked in and filling us with bliss, peace, and total contentment so that we can go out and share the overflow of all that love with the world around us.

Who knew that a title could mean something so different to Sam.  When I told him the title he said, "That could be really scary."  I asked him what he meant, and he said it would be really scary if all the good stuff got sucked out of the world.  I totally agree!  I then told him that this vortex was working in reverse to bring even more beauty and love and light into the world.  I'm not sure he is convinced, but it's always interesting to see how far apart our perspectives are on most things.

This piece has many rich layers under these top images.  You can see some of it in the photos of details below.  It's also fairly large for me--2 x 3 feet.

I hope you feel a vortex of all things good overflowing into your life!

I LOVE A GOOD PARTY. . . SCHEDULE YOUR ART PARTY TODAY

I love a good party where I get to walk away with something.
I'm NOT talking about stealing.
I'm talking about MAKING.

If you feel the same way, look at your calendar, contact me, and schedule an art party today!

I also love to share the love for making with other people of all ages and experience levels.  It is definitely one of the reasons why I was put on this earth.

There are so many possibilities, too.  We can:

  •      Paint on canvas
  •      Make paper
  •      Make or alter books
  •      Make affirmation cards
  •      Collage and create mixed media art
See more information on the Art Party Page or email me

Another possibility is a Trunk Show of my creations.  It's like a tupperware party for one of a kind locally make art!  Introduce your friends to the whimsy of my creativity in paintings, cards, books, and other clever goodies.
